NIGHT OUT
The “24th Annual National Night Out” (NNO),
a unique crime prevention event sponsored by the National
Association of Town Watch (NATW), has been scheduled
for Tuesday, August 7, 2007.
Last
year’s National Night Out campaign involved citizens,
law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses,
neighborhood organizations and local officials from
10,750 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories,
Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all,
34.8 million people participated in NNO 2005. This year’s
“23rd Annual NNO” will be the largest ever!
National
Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug
prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and
participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) Strengthen
neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships;
and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know
that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Plains
Township will again participate in NNO 2007. NNO will
be held at the Plains Volunteer Ambulance/Rescue 211
Building, 90 Maffett Street from 6-10 p.m. Plains residents
are asked to turn on their outside porch lights and
take part in the activities planned. Please check our
website for further information as NNO 2007 gets closer!
